  • They use the percentage of financing over the acquisition value as their main segmentation criterion:

    • – 80% for citizens residing in Europe (some banks include US + Canadian + Australian citizens in this group)
    • – 50% to 70% (depending on banks) for Rest of the World citizens
    • – 50% for at-risk geographies

  • Your pricing criteria (spread) are the same as for national citizens (customer scoring and initial entry)
  • Offers available to non-residents that allow exemption from the life insurance requirement for initial down payments equal to or greater than 25%
  • They request the same type of documentation as for credit to residents, but from the country of origin, but they tend to be more demanding in terms of proof of funds and evidence of income received, namely always requiring bank statements
  • They only send credit decision processes after customers have a Portuguese NIF
  • They request translated documentation for customers from countries that do not have Spanish, French or English as their official languages, although some banks have the possibility of certifying documentation at their local agents, especially for customers from German-speaking countries.
  • They facilitate the opening of accounts remotely and accept that deeds are signed by power of attorney, but are especially strict when accepting powers of attorney for deeds
